Badtz is hoping that Kitty will take her out shopping so she is camped out in her purse. There's a new Laverne and Shirley lunchbox at the hardware store that Badtz wants to show Kitty and hopes it'll give ideas for a Christmas present.

Bill and Kitty took Buddy with them to their family's Thanksgiving dinner. No on has ever seen Buddy so engaged in life! Once he found a piece of cooked turkey on the floor here was no stopping Buddy from being social and hanging out in the kitchen where all the action was. It's a dog's life and we think Buddy enjoyed himself.

It's been over three years since Bill and Kitty started blogging about the Happy House. Many things have changed (Miss Texas and Vive passed away and new dog Buddy has joined the household). But many things stay the same. Tobey and Badtz sleep most of the day. Tobey gets into clean laundry Badtz is soft, shinny and mischievous... Bill and Kitty still love their critters.

Badtz has tickets for Saturday's Giants game so she can watch Tim Lincecum receive his second Cy Young. She wants to pack extra snacks in her Laverne & Shirley lunchbox and a picture in case he can autograph. She may need Bill or Betty to accompany her as she is only 4 years old and shoudn't be out on public transit on her own.

Here is a picture of Buddy on his first day from Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary. He is an eight year old, newly neutered boy. Homeward Bound rescued him from the Turlock, CA shelter. He was at the sanctuary for a week before Bill and Kitty adopted him.

Here he is a week after. Tobey and Badtz are over the moon! Badtz was a little suspicious at first but Tobey really likes him. He has, on a couple occasions, rubbed his head on Budd's paws. Already! Happy House.

Sunday TV w Tobey

Tobey and Kitty watched Eight Below (again!) on the TV. They both cried when Mya gets bitten by the evil sea cow! They cried even harder when Max leads Paul walker to an injured Mya. In the end Tobey purred very loud because everyone was going home.

"When are we going to get a dog?!" The cat critters miss their Viva-dog. Bill and Kitty miss having one too.

Tobey's new friend

Tobey would like for us to do more laundry. So he can spend more time on the dryer, but he has made friends with the heater vent. This is a warm weather cat that's for sure. Maybe the air duct carry the residual scent of Kayla, Miss Texas and Viva. Bill and Kitty clean regularly but cats do have an incredible sense of smell.

It's been almost 2 moths since Vive passed. The remaining critters don't really know what to do. Tobey stands around and looks at Bill and Kitty then begs for food. Badtz chased her tail until she got the news that Tim Lincecum won the Cy Young two years in a row! She wouldn't get off the kitchen table until Bill put the paper in the recycle bin.

We Miss You Vive

Bill and Kitty have some very sad news to share. Their dear girl, Vive, Viva, Vivace, Vivienne, passed away last week. She had been bloated on and off for the last month (or so). It is hard to pin point when she first started feeling bad. The last few days Vive didn't eat with the relish that she had in the past.

It's difficult to know when your critter is feeling ill.They never complain. They only want to please their human. It's especially sad because she was so young. The Happy House will be sad for quite some time.

This weekend the cats and Vive will enjoy the continuing saga of Battlestar Galactica from Netflix. They often wonder where the pets are in the show. "Don't they have pets in space?" they'll ask. Bill will then have to put Aliens on the DVD player as Jonesy was a pet in space and an Orange-boy to boot!

Poor Badtz was sick for 2 weeks before the 4th of July. She had a bad could where she had a hard time with her breathing. The Vet said Upper Respiratory Infection. So, poor little kitty had to be given Amoxicillyn. Bill and Kitty made sure she drank lots of water and cleaned her eyes and nose of little kitty snot.

We are happy to say, she made a full recovery!

Badtz has been taking puppy lessons. That has to be the reason behind all this tail chasing, ball playing, etc. She has also taken voice lessons from a pigeon. She coos at night and mixes it with her usual Badtz mutterings.

Tobey was sick for the last couple weeks. Vomitting, and then no appetite. When Kitty took him to the Veterinarian . He acted like an normal cat with an appetite. They came home with some laxative and a suggestion to take some Pepcide for a possible acid stomach.

After careful feeding and loving encouragement, Tobey is feeling well enough to sit with Badtz in their most favorite place in the Happy House.

Bill sometimes puts a foot in a shoe and takes it off right away then turns it upside down. Out rolls a penny or a nickel. Before Kitty vacuums she needs to do reconnaissance due to miscellaneous coins on the floor. It was soon apparent who was responsible.

The winter blahs have been visiting the happy house. The critters are fat and lethargic. Although Tobey has been pushing himself off the bed to get to the top of the mule chest. There are pennies up there an he needs to pinch them. The Vivester has been walked out in the rain twice a day and on weekends is treated to fetch or flying disc action. Badtz has resisted harassing the Bendable People. Kitty thinks she is maturing into full adulthood. She is turning 4 years old this July!

Other than the above, it's been a quiet February.

Tobey has forgiven Badtz for telling tales during Christmas dinner. It had to do with the day Bill and Kitty brought Vivienne home from the rescue foundation. Tobey was introduced and then Badtz. Then Badtz ran off and Vive chased her into a dead end hallway. That where the discrepancy in stories lie...

Christmas Night

Tonight was a fun night for the critters. Bill and Kitty had friends and family over for Christmas dinner. Badtz kept an eye on them but ran off when someone wanted to pet her. Tobey slept on bench until dinner time and then he had to go find another spot (dryer). Vive skulked about looking for anyone to play with her.

She has been fine! Vive is the the typical border collie. Intense. Bill and Kitty need to order a couple sheep and goats to to keep her busy. Oh, Bill gets her out a couple times a day to run her, throw the Frisbee. Fortunately, she hasn't tried to herd the cats.

One Year Anniversary

The first entry in Bill and Kitty's blog was on Oct 17, 2007. The first critter entry was the day after that, 10/18/07. Can't believe it's been a whole year! Not much has changed. Well, the critter count has sadly gone down by one.

The day arrived, Miss Texas is gone. She had been ill for quite sometime. In the last week she stopped coming out for treats and then she couldn't lift her legs to get into the litter box, her rear legs atrophied beyond return or rehabilitation. Poor thing.

Maybe you've read about the numerous wild fires occurring all over California. The critters stay inside all day while Bill and Kitty are at work. The windows are kept closed so the smoke won't cause any breathing problems for them. Don't know if they make nebulizers for cats and dogs. You can see how concerned Badtz is.

Tobey CPA. When he was younger he would propel himself from the bed to the mule chest and play with pennies. Once he gets a coin in his mouth, he jumps back to the bed to play with it some more.

Bill and Kitty had a couple jars full of pennies in their den. Bill noticed that they were a handful of pennies lined up against the wall. We mean more than just a dozen, but many coins scattered about that corner. Wasn't until Kitty was reading in bed that Tobey came up and spat out 2 pennies for her that it was confirmed that he was the penny pincher. Tobey then, leaped to the chest and started his money counting.

Bill and Kitty were off on a motorbike adventure last week. They entrusted the critters to a friend who stayed at the Happy House. Vive can't stop talking about him. "He's great," "He can throw a Frisbee far," etc.

When Badtz was first fished out of the curb she was named Black Kitten, then Sapphire. Then her rescue mom (Bill and Kitty's neighbor) named her Maggie. Then Pearl, then Misty. Bill noticed a resemblance to the Hello Kitty character, Badtz Maru. Kitty started calling her Roberta for reasons only Kitty knows. Goatbutt, DevilCat, etc. Now she has the alias, Loquacious B. She does, however, answer to Badtz.

The SF Giants were away playing the Phillies. The game was tied at 2-2 and went to extra innings. At the top of the 10th the Giants scored a run. The Giants put Wilson in to close at the bottom of the 10th. It was tense, but the Giants put the Phillies away and won. Tobey was engrossed.

Fat Cats!!

Tobey and Badtz went to the vet yesterday. They were deemed healthy except for the weight issue. Tobey is now 19 lbs and Badtz is a 15 pounder! Staring this morning they are on a reduced portions diet. They're going to loose 2 lbs each.

On anther note, Bill reported that the vet spent a few extra moments petting Badtz and deemed her the silkiest cat he ever touched.

A couple years ago, Bill and Kitty went on vacation and had a friend stay to take care of the critters. They were told almost 24 hours after she escaped that she was loose in the neighborhood. Bill and Kitty rushed back home and Badtz came back within 4 hours of their return.

She could be a Maggie, but Bill noticed a similarity to the Hello Kitty character Badtz Maru, the penguin with an attitude who wants to become the boss of everything. Badtz Begins

Kitty first meet Badtz as one of two kittens when she and Bill kitten-sat for a neighbor. Bill had met Badtz when she was 4 inches long. She was just rescued from the curbside by a person and then given to the neighbor for care. The neighbor also rescued a little gray kitten a couple weeks later.

You may remember Tobey's betrothed Priscilla. Well Kitty met her shortly after the rescue and was smittened by the kitten. She hadn't met Badtz yet and was looking forward to having the little pitter-patter of kitten paws around the house.

Here they are at their first stay with Bill and Kitty. If you click on the photos you will see Badtz's stripes. She is a black-bodied tiger cat! No wonder the attitude.

Tex, Miss Texas to you

At night Miss Texas wonders around the house. You can hear her claws clicking as she walks down the hardwood hallway. Then her claws snag on the rug as she circles Bill and Kitty's bed every 10 minutes. Each step catches the rug, no wonder Kitty wakes up every couple hours.

Miss Texas's best friend

The days of Miss Texas ruling the house is long gone. She is approx 17-18 years old. She is still pretty feisty but the arthritis has settled into her hips. She gets comfort from our "Wee Lover Boy," Tobey. He spends time with her and they have an understanding. We're happy that Badtz will be around for Tobey when Missy Miss takes her last nap.

Miss Texas's Turn

Bill and Kitty adopted Miss Texas as a 1year house present for themselves. She was 2years old.

After a month with her they decided to adopt a pet for her. They went to the Oakland SPCA and adopted a white kitten and named him Tim. She tormented, bullied him. He was a beautiful and a gentle soul. She out live Tim. He died at 10 years of age.

Two-weeks after Tim's death, Miss Texas wondered around the house looking for him and making lots of noise. Bill and Kitty adopted Tobey thereafter.

Daddy Love

When Bill and Kitty were searching for an orange kitten they lucked-out.

As they approached the Hopalong adoption event, they saw a woman in a wheelchair cuddling an orange kitten. Their hearts sank because that was "their" orange kitten. So, the plan was, Bill was to create a distraction so Kitty could snatch the kitten from the handicapped lady and run to the car to wait for Bill while he fills out the adoption papers!

But, they didn't have to do that because there was a second orange boy. The Big QT, Tobey. We love our boy! Our wee lover boy :-)

The Old One and Tobey

When Tobey was a kitten Miss Texas tried to bully him as she had done with a past cat named Tim. But Tobey was able to give back more. He tired her out. She's not the young girl-cat she was when she was bullying Tim. She jumped on the Tobey bandwagon. They have been BFF.

A whole website can be built on pictures of Tobey sleeping and Tobey sleeping in the dryer, laundry basket, pile of clean laundry. He has slept on dirty laundry, but he doesn't get a refreshing sleep as when he slumbers on clean laundry.

Tobey was once betrothed to a cute gray kitten called Priscilla, Prissy for short.

He loved her. She loved him. See how cuddly they are. Prissy was one of the kittens Bill and Kitty took care of for a neighbor. The other cat was Badtz. Bill and Kitty couldn't adopt both kitties. Badtz, was the pick of the litter. Poor Tobey. He is stuck with bad catz Badtz.

The Many Loves of Tobey

Tobey was very close to Bill and Kitty's old Golden Retriever, Kayla. Tobey enjoyed rubbing his head on Kayla's paws after she came home from a walk. She was his virtual outdoors.

He was deeply sadden the night Kayla died. He stood in the dinning room watching her fade away.

Vive loves walking at a local park. She runs ahead of Bill and runs back to when he calls her. She gets 4 times the exercise than the human! That's okay because Vive has 12 times the energy of any human.

Tobey gets some love

He loves his daddy! Tobey is quite pleased to spend time with Bill and so is Kitty since Bill is a much better influence than the Gnome.

Badtz may be the softest, but Tobey is the sweetest. He spends time making sure Miss Texas is comfortable and with companionship. He does the same with us all. What a nice cat (as long as he stays away from the Gnome).

In One Day, Out Another

So guess who was sleeping in today? Kitty had to call the Holiday Inn Express to tell them that Badtz was going to be a little late. Kitty was surprised to hear that Badtz was let go Jan 5! She could only make one bed a day and distracted the other housekeepers. Instead of cleaning the rooms and making the beds, they all played with her. She's so cute and soft! No wonder she was only able to make one bed a day!

The Gnome

We've definitely noticed the influence of the neighborhood gnome on Tobey. Tobey has become more of a loner. A bit more bossy towards Badtz and more a tad more destructive in the house. Scratching the couch, the dryer door...

Not Yet Dry

Kitty got home to a little battle between the two young cats. Tobey wouldn't get out of the dryer. Badtz wanted to practice doing the laundry. She wanted to hone her housekeeping skills. Kitty was impressed until Bill told her she didn't go to work today.

Tobey was able to go back to sleep in the dryer.

First Day of Work

Here's Badtz making sure we packed extra kibble in her lunch. Bill will drop her off at the Holiday Inn Express and Kitty will pick her up after her shift is over.

We can't wait to hear how her day went. She'll probably be too pooped to describe it.

Tumbled Tobey

This happens to "The Boy" quite often. He falls asleep in the dryer. Of course it's never turn it on while he is inside. He just looks looks like he as been tumbled dry.

If Badtz hadn't been exorcised, we would never let Tobey sleep in the dryer without human supervision. But now we feel pretty safe.

Nice Evening at Home

Bill and Kitty stayed home tonight and reflected on the New Year that is just around the corner. Then the household watched Predator vs Alien. Badtz always favors the Predator creature, even when it was up against Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura.

Tobey left to sleep on top of the dryer with Miss Texas. He knows that Miss Texas doesn't have long for this world. But then, who does?

In case anyone was interested. Badtz is still okay. The demons have stayed away and that is all good for the Holidays! She has been a little angel. Why the other day, the Holiday Inn Express called and asked for her. She has a start date of Jan 2. Her bed-making skills has finally paid off!

The Exorcist come to the house over the weekend to rid Badtz of the demonic spirit embedded in her soul. You know, the Devil. It took a while and she was a bit resistant but we got it out of her. As you see now, she is the picture of sweetness and light.

The Truth Camera!

This picture was taken by a camera Bill and Kitty bought from a strange old fellow on the street. Actually, it was a pretty dark alley and he was hunched over a trash bin fire. The old fellow said that it a special camera, one that captures the true nature of the subject.

You see it captured the true Badtz. But she wasn't hiding her true nature too deep.

Neighborhood Gnome

After the wash was dried, Tobey decided to sit inside it. He invited the neighborhood gnome to join him. The dryer has become the "man cave." All they need now is a neon Schlitz King of Beer sign hanging over them! Next they'll invite Vive and her canine buddies in to play cards!

Badtz is the Softest

Tobey is the handsomest, Miss Texas is the oldest, Vive is the doggiest and Badtz is the silkiest! She has a nice sheen to her. Badtz' little body is compact and she reminds Bill and Kitty of a certain cut of meat. When you're at the grocery store, pick up a pork loin in the meat section. It's how Badtz's body feels, but warmer. Actually, Badtz's nickname is "cupcake," NOT "little pork loin."

The World Upside-down

Badtz spends much of her time observing everyday events in this position. Her outlook on life is anything but ordinary. She is either like this or in the Avocado position with her head below the hole. Don't get too close to her though or you'll get some fine scratches on your nose!

You can see why Badtz sleeps with half her body through the hole in the pedestal. She needs a fast escape! Sometime she'll crawl up backward as if you were watching her go down the pedestal in reverse. You never know with her.
